The Partnership hosted a virtual lunch and learn event featuring a resource to address the core concepts required to implement CHI and PIN services, A Primer: Understanding the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Billing Codes for Community Health Integration (CHI), Principal Illness Navigation (PIN), and Principal Illness Navigation – Peer Support (PIN-PS) Services.
The 2024 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule included new codes for Community Health Integration (CHI) and Principal Illness Navigation (PIN) services. These new services codes provide direct reimbursement for labor for auxiliary personnel, including community health workers, working with Medicare providers to address upstream drivers of health. The Physician Fee Schedule also highlighted the opportunity for providers to contract with community-based organizations to provide staffing to address upstream drivers of health and health-navigation services for affected populations.
The Partnership to Align Community Care developed a series of resources to address the core concepts required to implement CHI and PIN services and hosted a virtual lunch and learn event featuring the first of these resources, A Primer: Understanding the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Billing Codes for Community Health Integration (CHI), Principal Illness Navigation (PIN), and Principal Illness Navigation – Peer Support (PIN-PS) Services.
This webinar built upon previous Partnership events detailing opportunities to address upstream drivers of health through fee-for-service Medicare and included an opportunity for Q&A to inform planning for and implementation of CHI and PIN services.
